A well-known scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: "What you have told us is rubbish. It's all a matter of perspective

The way [religion] encourages a kind of childlike, slavish obedience is very negative. It teaches people to be satisfied with inadequate answers to profound questions. Thanks to science, we now have such an exciting grasp of the answers to such questions, it’s a kind of blasphemy not to embrace them.
